The “COULD BE FUN RUN” signifies the conclusion of the FIT 2003 Spring Training Session. Anyone who’s interested is invited to join us for this leisurely jaunt on occasionally flat terrain. This one’s not for the faint of heart however as the Popeye’s to Hill(s) course is a scenic and challenging point-to-point route, which begins at SW 22nd St and Chelsea Ave., and ends on SW 33rd St east of Auburn Rd. It is a hilly route in sections so it’s not for the faint of heart.  All participants are required to arrange their own transportation from the finish line back to the start. Participants may run any portion of the course as well, but must also arrange their own transportation.  These options include running a portion of the point-to-point route or an out-and-back to the start.  Any participants who leave a vehicle at the start, are asked to park in the west lot at Fairlawn Plaza Mall, located to the north of the former Popeye’s and to the south of Eagle Auto Wash, in order to allow mall patrons more easy access to their destination.

A potluck brunch will take place at the home of Tony and Sharon Estes (located just east of the finish line), immediately following the run. Anyone wishing to partake in the brunch must provide a dish to share.  It would also be advisable to bring your beverage of choice.  Dishes can be dropped off at the former Popeye’s prior to the race start for delivery to the Estes residence or contact them at 478-0905 to make other arrangements.

In the event of extremely warm weather, a wading pool and garden hose will be available for to “refresh” yourself after the event.  An optional Personal Attendant may be available for a significant fee, however; you must furnish your own towel and toiletries.

This is a no-frills event, hence no entry fee. There will also be no T-shirts, no bib numbers, no awards, no prizes, no results, no course monitors, or no police protection on the route, however; there will be self-serve aid stations providing water and Gatorade at the 2,4,6, 8, and 10 mile marks. The course will be clearly marked with white arrows at every turn unless debris happens to cover the markings.  All participants will run at their own risk and find their own way to the finish, however; all cheaters and cutters will be DQ’d and verbally assaulted in addition to being publicly humiliated in the presence of all other available participants. The race director will not be available to send a search party out to track down lost participants.  The course map and event registration form are available by clicking on the links below.  Questions.. E-mail the race director at [email protected] or call 213-1727.  Concerns..As always, keep ‘em to yourself unless you’ve first confirmed with five other participants that any concern you may have is actually valid.

All participants must complete and sign the waiver in order to participate in the event. Mail completed waivers to:

Tony Estes, 8139 SW 33rd St, Topeka, KS 66614

Alternatively, you may submit your registration form to the race director prior to the start of the event.
